Investment Casting with LAMP™ additive manufacturing

Investment casting is the manufacturing technique used to make high precision and high value metal parts with guaranteed metallurgical properties for demanding applications.This video describes the extreme time compression in the manufacture of investment castings using DDM’s LAMP™ ceramic additive manufacturing technology.

 

The Digital Foundry™

This video describes DDM’s approach to implementing the Digital Investment Casting Foundry. Here we show how ceramic shells are printed using DDM’s patented LAMP™ technology and our proprietary photopolymerizable ceramic slurries. After the shells are printed and fired, they are assembled into a tree on a wax sprue, then dipped and coated with stucco. The sprue wax is then melted out and the shell tree fired, followed by metal pouring and shell breakout to yield the castings.

Gas Turbine Hot-Section Component Additive Repair with SLE™

The history and problems of repairing hot-section parts of gas turbine engines, such as turbine blades, vanes, and hot gas path tiles composed of high gamma-prime nickel-base superalloys, are explained in this video. Here, we demonstrate the shortcomings of existing repair technologies and demonstrate how DDM's exclusive and patented SLE™-Scanning Laser Epitaxy additive repair technology can be used to restore such components to original or better than original condition.

This video provides a technical description of DDM’s proprietary and patented SLE™-Scannning Laser Epitaxy technology for the additive repair of gas turbine engine hot-section components incorporating real-time feedback control of the melt pool to control the solidification and the microstructure of the melted and resolidified powders.
